ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview

The GIS Analyst is designed to help the Utilities Department manage data, create maps, and ensure compliance required by the Consent Decree. Ensure accuracy of data, and report in a timely manner to the EPA for the Consent Decree.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Input graphic and textual data for preparation of GIS projects and prepare data input using coordinate geometry and importation.
· Apply map projections and geo-referencing to raster and vector data.
· Apply GIS technology, map projections and understanding of coordinate systems.
· Ensure accurate conversion operations using data standards.
· Responsible for data conversion and/or creation of spatial data in support of GIS.
· Manipulate a variety of related data to produce digital and hard copy GIS products.
· Research and interpret data records for projects.
· Organize, maintain, and archive computer files, drawings, maps, and files.
· May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

· Requires a Associate degree (AA/AS)
· Bachelor’s degree preferred in GIS, Geography, environmental Science, Computer Science, Cartography or closely related field
· Minimum of (2) years of related experience
· A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
