ACC GIS Faculty Stephanie Long Wins eFaculty of the Year Award

Congratulations to ACC GIS Faculty Stephanie Long on winning the ACC eFaculty of the Year Award! The award recognizes an outstanding ACC Faculty member who has creatively incorporated Internet-based technologies to teach online and/or hybrid courses at ACC. The recipient designed and taught one or more online or hybrid courses with an imaginative approach, well-designed course materials, instructional strategies, and a demonstrated rapport with the course participants.

GIS Professor Stephanie Long joined ACC in 2017 to create an Online GIS Level I Certificate program based on the Competency-Based Education (CBE) model. In her first six months with ACC, she launched five online Level I GIS courses with the support of her fellow faculty members. Fast-forward two years and our program has expanded to include more than 60 online students learning GIS from across our region, Texas, and the World. Professor Long’s program leadership, curriculum development, and pedagogy is why our CBE online GIS enrollment, persistence, and awards are succeeding.
