Description
Under general supervision, the Systems Analyst supports software systems by implementing, maintaining, developing, and upgrading enterprise applications city-wide. The Systems Analyst brings valuable insight and understanding to the organization by analyzing how well IT systems fit the various business needs for end-users.
This position will be assigned to the Geospatial Services division within the Information Technology Department with the City of Round Rock.
Examples of Duties
- Leads and manages projects with a high level of autonomy. Evaluates business processes and makes recommendations in the use of technology. Performs requirements analysis and identifies resources needed for the implementation of new technology.
- Meets with end-users to help optimize and improve their workflows and ensure technology needs are being met; identifies system integration opportunities and defines integration and implementation parameters. Uses automation tools and techniques to improve work efficiency.
- Empowers decision making and operational insight through data analysis, reporting, and visualization.
- Maintains system documentation, provides training, and promotes the use of desktop, web, and mobile technology throughout the organization.
- Acts as liaison between system stakeholders and vendor software solutions. Actively monitors product development and upgrades. Resolves system issues using technical analysis and/or escalation of issues to software provider.
- Assists in the maintenance and administration of enterprise-level technology components. Works closely with IT department team members to ensure scalable and robust system operation. Coordinates the implementation of system updates and changes. Conducts testing procedures prior to deployment.
Experience and Training
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Geography/GIS or a related field
- Three (3) or more years of full-time experience as a systems analyst or similar position.
- Additional experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.
Desired Skills:
- Customization, configuration and enhancement of Enterprise Asset Management Systems, preferably with Cityworks.
- Ability to create and administer geospatial solutions utilizing ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Mobile Apps.
- Ability to automate processes using workflow automation tools and/or scripting languages
- Utilization of Data Integration Platforms to automate data distribution and integration workflows, preferably with FME.
- Experience supporting/optimizing integration of various systems and applications.
- Ability to implement improvement to business processes via software/technology with a focus on Public Works.
