The City of Austin seeks qualified candidates for a position that will support the Watershed Protection Department’s decentralized stormwater management efforts (planning, policy, and implementation). Watershed Protection Department/ Environmental Resources Management Division/ Surface Water Evaluations Section

Planner Temporary Employee Job Description
This one-year temporary position is designed to search and analyze local, regional, national and international data relevant to evaluating costs, benefits, and opportunities of centralized and decentralized stormwater management controls through multiple perspectives.

Skills

  • Search, compile, and analyze data from multiple sources
  • Ability to conduct exhaustive peer-reviewed and gray literature and synthesize findings
  • Ability to identify and document spatial patterns
  • Proficient in technical writing
  • ArcMap/GIS
  • Ability to structure and conduct direct and remote interviews with different communication media

Tasks

  • Assist in the drafting of the research proposals and reports
  • Enter data in a timely manner and assist with quality control efforts during data collection
  • Analyze spatial data in GIS
  • Create and edit geodatabases
  • Generate graphs, flowcharts, tables, charts, maps, etc
  • Participate in staff meetings
