Environmental Science Summer Intern with LCRA

The LCRA Water Conservation Department currently offers one Intern position for a college student in a science or agricultural studies with emphasis on water conservation in agricultural processes.  This position offers excellent opportunities to gain knowledge of a wide range conservation and science practices through hands-on experience with supervision by well-seasoned experts.

Job Duties:

  • Verifying and determining levee density for rice fields using the uMap (a GIS) software and aerial imagery.
  • Collect NRCS data records from Gulf Coast areas on which fields have been land leveled in our service area. 
  • Knowledge in ag practices, statistics, conservation possibilities, and knowledge in GIS/mapping programs.
  • Performing routine aspects of conservation programming, data collection, and customer outreach.
  • Using computer-aided software and equipment to gather and analyze data.
  • Collecting and preparing data for evaluation.
  • Assisting in the coordination of projects.
  • Providing support staff members as needed.
  • Performing field inspection and data collection
  • Working with agricultural property owners on verifying conservation savings of processes implemented.
