Advance Your Career with Advanced GIS Courses at ACC

This Spring Semester, ACC is offering a number of advanced GIS course that can support your professional development.

  • GISC 1401 GIS and GPS introduces students to recreational-, mapping-, and survey-grade GPS technology. Student learn how to use GIS to setup a data collection project, GPS to collect field data, and GIS to process, analyze, and present the results. Students employ industry-standard technology including: Garmin, Trimble Juno, Trimble GeoXH, Trimble Positions, Collector for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Desktop.
  • GISC 1421 Introduction to Raster-Based GIS introduces students to all things raster, including: orthophoto production, pixel- and object-oriented image classification, change detection, and geostatistical interpolation. Students employ industry-standard technology including: ERDAS Imagine, ArcGIS Desktop, and ArcGIS Pro.
  • GISC 2231 Advanced Problems in GIS challenges students with four real-world GIS projects, including: transportation network analysis, image classification and analysis, LiDAR classification and analysis, and geostatistical analysis. All projects are completed using ArcGIS Desktop.
