Schedule: Part-time, 10-19 hours/week, 250 hours total minimum per semester
Compensation: $13.00 per hour + optional three (3) semester hours credit through university (arranged by the student)

General Job Description:
GIS Intern will assist in projects to enhance the ability of TNRIS to serve data to the public, work primarily focused on Research and Distribution Center including maintenance of the historic photo archive and special projects such as the Texas Map Gallery initiative. Other assignments may be added as needed and to provide the intern with greater exposure to the important work performed by TNRIS teams.

The intern will play a key role in TNRIS with responsibility for special projects, to scan and georeference historic photo archives, work with specialists and other staff to support priority initiatives in TNRIS.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be enrolled at a recognized Texas college or university during the semester for which the GIS internship is requested. Successful candidates will have a background in geography, environmental studies, or other related field; experience with ArcGIS software and related products; and a demonstrated expertise/enthusiasm in cartography and map production. This position requires great attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well in team settings and independently. Knowledge of aerial imagery, Lidar, remote sensing, GPS technologies, and familiarity with the geography of Texas are a plus.
