GIS Analyst Intern at Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts - Deadline 4/5/21

Work Hours: Candidate must be available to work 8 to 5 Central Standard Time. Alternative work hours must be pre-approved by the Direct Supervisor.

The selected contractor(s) will be required to come in person to the LBJ Building (Austin, TX) to obtain CPA equipment, badge and initial assignments.

Work will be remote!

This is currently a 3-month assignment:

Estimated FY21: 300 hours
Period of Service: 5/17/21 – 8/16/21 – assignment can extend through 8/31/22
Pay Rate: $15/hr
Positions: 4 positions

JOB DUTIES:
CPA currently is expanding its GIS technology platform. The Candidate, GIS Analyst, will be responsible for working with the team in order to analyze, develop, validate and deploy components of a GIS solution. The Candidate must be familiar and have experience entering data into a geocoded data base.

The Candidate must have knowledge of the following:
  • Understanding of ArcGIS Enterprise Server.
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS COGO
  • ArcGIS software, technologies specifically Georeferencing.
  • Integrating with standard geo formats such as KML, Shapefiles or GeoRSS,
The Candidate must be familiar with Agile project management and have advanced verbal/written communication skills, as well as a proficient understanding of secure development practices (including authentication, authorization, confidentiality, data-integrity, non-repudiation, and availability). The Candidate must be able to take assignments and direction from agency management and technical lead staff.

TOP SKILLS:
  • Experience/familiar entering data into a geocoded database
  • Experience/knowledge in analyzing geographic information systems and procedures; to read and interpret surveys, legal descriptions, cartography, engineering documents, construction plans, aerial photography and orthophotography
  • Experience/knowledge in designing, developing, and deploying GIS Solutions
  • Experience/knowledge in planning, organizing and prioritizing multiple assignments to effectively manage a fast paced and changing work environment without compromising accuracy.
  • Experience/knowledge in consistently meeting internal and external customer needs and expectations in a professional manner.
  • Experience/knowledge transposing physical maps into digital shapefiles
  • Experience/knowledge in the most recent versions of ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Experience/knowledge with application security requirements

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Experience with State of Texas MSA, County, and city
  • GISP GIS certifications
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office products, including Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Visio, Excel.
  • Experience/knowledge utilizing Atlassian products Jira and Confluence.
  • Competent working an Agile development methodology, attending daily standups, delivering sprint objectives.
