IT Geospatial Analyst Position with The City of Austin

The City of Austin has a current opening for an IT Geospatial Analyst.  This position is located in the Watershed Policy and Planning Division and has a minimum requirement of two (2) years of education in the related field.  

The preferred qualifications include:

  • ESRI's ArcGIS product suite (ArcGIS Pro, AGOL, etc.)
  • Modelbuilder
  • SQL and Python
  • FME
  • Raster Datasets

A cover letter and resume are required to be considered for this position.  This position supports the Policy and Planning GIS projects. The position will conduct research and GIS analysis for section projects and for projects solicited from other Divisions in Watershed Protection, Departments in the City, and residents.

Essential functions and duties specific to this position include:

  • Workflow documentation and quality control of data processing.
  • Review site, subdivision, and CIP construction plans.
  • Produce maps and narratives of the data displayed.
  • Customer service and meeting attendance.
  • Write scripts and use software to gather data across multiple sources.
  • Perform complex GIS analytical functions such as raster processing and streamlining multi-step geoprocesses.
