GIS Data Analyst with Williamson County

Williamson County is seeking candidates for a GIS Data Analyst to assist with the development and maintenance of the Williamson County Geographical Information Systems (GIS) databases and applications. The position will be under the direct supervision of the GIS Manager, and will perform geographic analysis to produce maps, and other spatially derived information. Work involves spatial data creation, input, and manipulation using geographic information systems; assisting in spatial database design and maintenance; technical support; and spatial modeling and scripting.  The position will also support GIS related applications and be available for Emergency Operations Center callback.  If interested, please use the following link to review the job description and qualifications on the WilCo HR webpage. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Performs geographic analysis to produce maps and other spatially derived information.
  • Creates and maintains spatial data.
  • Provides technical support to internal and external GIS users.
  • Researches various sources of ta to incorporate into Enterprise GIS System.
  • Supports and acts as backup for other GIS staff as needed.
  • Devises workflows and procedures to ensure timely and accurate collection and management of spatial data. 
  • Develops and implements quality control procedures and acceptance criteria for incoming spatial data.
  • Creates GIS models and scripts to automate tasks.
  • Documents business processes.
  • Works with a variety of people and agencies to create and maintain GIS products.
  • Provides Tier 1 support for GIS driven applications.
  • Responds to emergency personnel callbacks to the County's Emergency Operations Center to provide GIS technical support.
  • Readily complies with departmental and countywide policies and procedures.
  • Performs related special projects as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree with major course work in GIS, regional planning, geography, or closely related field.
  • Five (5) years' experience as a GIS professional.
  • Experience with ESRI software suite (Desktop, ArcServer, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Online, ESRI Modelbuilder), Python, FME software, GPS, MS SQL Server and project management.
  • Ability to work with a variety of people and agencies in a professional manner.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication.
  • Demonstrated initiative, time management, organizational and customer service skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies at a rapid pace.
  • Maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Obtain a valid driver's license by date of hire.
  • Possess and maintain a personally-owned mobile device capable of receiving calls, text messages, and emails.
