Contribute your time and join relief efforts on the ground in Puerto Rico and Mexico by participating in open-source mapping.

Following the recent hurricane and earthquake, people around the world are using the OpenStreetMap platform to donate their time to relief efforts. Relief organizations in Puerto Rico and Mexico have requested help with their efforts, and libraries (Columbia, Rutgers, U. of Miami, and more) are responding! Learn more about these efforts.

During the mapathon, library staff will teach participants how to help with these efforts through some easy-to-learn mapping tasks in a web-based application. This is the second iteration after a successful mapathon held on October 5. No mapping experience, knowledge of local geography, or software installation required.

Mapping is more fun with a friend, so bring someone along!
