GIS Analyst with BIO-WEST, Inc.

Description of Position and Qualifications:
We are a moderate sized environmental consulting firm looking for a GIS analyst.  This is a full time position with excellent benefits (health, dental, 401K, bonus and incentive programs), 11 paid holidays, accrual of PTO, and a flexible work environment.  

Initiative, prioritization, and an interest in developing and assisting in the marketing of additional GIS products for clients are desired candidate qualities. The ability to learn, augment skills, and a desire for professional development are desired. We are also interested in candidates who would enjoy using their skills in the context of environmental, wildlife and resource management.

Desired Skills Include
  • Proficiency with organizing and cleaning up field data (e.g. polygons from a Trimble or other GPS) and management of spatial and other data resources
  • Production of map figures for reports
  • Stitching of imagery mosaics from various sources
  • Change detection analysis, and spatial calculations (area quantification)
  • Experience and/or interest in using and managing ArcGIS online, and development, implementation and management of electronic data collection methods including tablets and apps such as Collector and Survey 123
  • A successful candidate should have the ability to efficiently incorporate data from different sources as attributes to spatial layers and query various data types using a GIS interface. 
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
While much of our GIS needs deal with mapping and vector data, duties specific to this position will include data management and organization to imagery comparison analysis, interpolation, and development of raster layers. 
Opportunities will exist to work on other project duties at times depending on the interests of the successful candidate and project needs. This may include biological and aquatic field work, field mapping, general IT and data analysis. Some limited travel may be required.
