Rapidly expanding technology company, Virtual Geomatics, Inc. based in Austin, TX is seeking Part Time interns or Full Time GIS Technicians at various levels to perform feature extraction from LiDAR point cloud for large scale infrastructure applications. The Job requires a degree or certification in Geography, Civil Engineering, GIS and hands-on exposure or experience in the following areas:

• GIS – (shape files/ geodatabase)
• LiDAR/ point cloud experience
• Proficient in using ESRI ArcGIS suite including ArcGIS Pro/ ArcMap software and experience in
• automating tools in ARCGIS software using Model Builder
• Experience interpreting Google Earth KML and derive path information

Software Developer (Programmer III) with the Texas Water Development Board

Job Description Summary

Performs highly complex (senior-level) geospatial developer work. This position will work with a small team of developers and play a fundamental role in helping the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) research, develop, manage, and publish water data and geospatial information for the state of Texas as part of the Texas Water Data Hub Project. Work is guided by Texas Natural Resources Information System (TNRIS) staff and tasks are oriented around the development of the front end of the Texas Water Data Hub with open-source programming tools, backend infrastructure, and data architecture. Work may involve the development or refinement of internal-facing tools for collaborating and managing water datasets and geospatial data supporting the hub project. Existing application (CKAN) will be used as an open data portal, but custom pages will need to be developed. May train others. • Oversees the development of and/or develops contracts and amendments by identifying provider resources and describing

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications (Education + Experience)
Five (5) years of experience in planning and research work. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or
university with major coursework in city or regional planning, economics, business or public administration, political science, or a related field is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience and firm understanding of Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery and Mitigation (CDBG-DR/MIT)policies and programs while demonstrating critical thinking and technical skills. Experience and understanding in the fields of policy and community planning, geographic information system (GIS), statistics and data analysis, and contract management. Additionally, the candidate will have demonstrated experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and demonstrated experience developing custom web-enabled interactive GIS maps. Experience with ArcGIS Online content and apps and open-source Web and GIS technology. GISP Strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of government organization and administration; and of principles, objectives, and procedures of governmental planning, programming, and research.
