Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) & Texas Natural Resources Information System (TNRIS) are looking for GIS Interns
Internship for Fiscal Year 2022, Fall and Spring semesters

Location: Remote Work and Stephen F. Austin State Office Building, Austin, Texas. For working remotely, candidates will need high-speed internet connection and a computer that supports a Work from Home infrastructure. Must also be able to come into the Stephen F. Austin Building.
Time Period: Fall 2021-Spring 2022 (September - May)
Schedule: Part-time, 10-19 hours/week, 250 hours total minimum per semester
Compensation: $15.60per hour + optional three (3) semester hours credit through university (arranged by the student)
Title: Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Intern

Paid and credit-based internship: $15.60 per hour for the semester and credit through college/university (to be arranged by the student).
General Job Description:
GIS Intern will assist in projects to enhance the ability of TNRIS to serve data to the public. The work is primarily focused in the Research and Distribution Center (RDC). Projects include maintenance of the historic photo archive, and the Lakes of Texas application. Additional duties include assisting in fulfilling historical data orders, providing QC for incoming datasets as needed, and supporting the StratMap Program initiatives.
Job Duties:
The intern will play a key role in TNRIS with responsibility for special projects, and other assignments may be added to provide the intern with greater exposure to the important work performed by TNRIS teams.
Qualifications:
Applicants should either be enrolled at a recognized Texas college or university or a recent graduate. Successful candidates will have a background in geography, environmental studies, or other related fields, and a desire to improve skills in GIS. Enrollment or completion of an introductory GIS course is required. Experience with ArcGIS software and related products, knowledge of aerial imagery, Lidar, remote sensing, GPS technologies, and familiarity with the geography of Texas is a plus. This position requires great attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team setting as well as independently.
