General Job Description:

Jonah Water Special Utility District (SUD) is accepting applications for a GIS Technician.

Jonah Water SUD provides high-quality water services to over 30,000 district customers in central Williamson County. GIS Technicians will support the district’s GIS needs in Water, Wastewater, Sewer, and Stormwater efforts. Under scheduled office hours, GIS Technicians will collect, manage, and analyze utility assets including but not limited to waterlines, valves, fire hydrants, and meters. GIS Technicians will aid the continued growth of GIS to promote informed decision making, improve customer relations and encourage collaboration throughout Jonah Water SUD.

Essential Job Duties:

• Capture new and existing district assets in the field using ArcGIS Field Maps and GNSS equipment.

• Support Maintenance and Construction crews, the Operations team, and Meter readers to locate district assets.

• Create Dashboards and develop Survey123 forms to support the distribution of information.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online fundamentals

• Familiar with ArcGIS Apps (i.e., Dashboards, Field Maps, Survey123, and Workforce)

• Understanding of GPS and GNSS Technology

• High attention to detail and accuracy of information.

Working Conditions:

• Regular full-time position

• Standard 40-hour workweek Monday through Friday

• Office environment combined with outside fieldwork involving sitting, standing, and walking

Compensation Package:

Jonah Water SUD offers a favorable compensation package including competitive wages and longevity pay. GIS Technician expected rate ranges from $25-$30 hourly, depending on qualifications. Jonah also offers time away from work benefits that include 11 paid holidays annually, earned vacation time-off, and sick leave. Once the trial period is complete, employees are eligible for medical, dental, and life insurance coverage. Retirement benefits entail membership with the Texas County and District Retirement System with participation from both employee and Jonah contributions to the employee’s retirement account.
