Schedule: Part-time, 15-19 hours/week, 250 hours total minimum per semester
Compensation: $15.00 per hour + optional three (3) semester hours credit through university (arranged by the student)

General Job Description:
GIS Intern will assist in priority projects to enhance the ability of TNRIS to serve data to the public. The work is primarily focused on the Research and Distribution Center (RDC) initiative to preserve the historic archive. The high priority photo scanning project requires a thorough review and maintenance of the historic aerial photo collection. The photo maintenance includes erasing notations, lines and other marks on the photos. Additionally, the historic inventory will be updated as each collection is prepared for scanning.
Job Duties:
The intern will play a key role in TNRIS with responsibility for a priority project to prepare the historic photo archive to be scanned. The photo maintenance includes erasing all notations, lines and other marks on the individual photo frames. Additionally, the interns will learn about the historic photo archive and asked to update the inventory as each collection is prepared for scanning.
Qualifications:
Applicants should either be enrolled at a recognized Texas college or university. Successful
candidates will have a limited background in geography, environmental studies, or other
related field, and a desire to learn about the importance of the unique photo archive that
resides with TNRIS. Experience with ArcGIS software and related products, knowledge of aerial imagery, Lidar, remote sensing, GPS technologies, and familiarity with the geography of Texas is a plus. This position requires great attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well in team settings and independently. Candidates must be able to work in the Stephen F. Austin Building for the duration of the internship and adhere to the COVID-19 policies and precautions in effect by the Texas Water Development Board.
