Job Description
Phoenix Lidar Systems, a growing UAV and remote sensing solutions company based in north Austin, TX, is looking to add an experienced Junior LiDAR Data Processing Specialist to our team. Phoenix LiDAR Systems builds custom, survey-grade laser mapping systems, and automation software for flight planning, acquisition, and post-processing, enabling clients to collect detailed, 3D topographic information for a wide range of commercial and research applications, including engineering, construction, mining, and more.
We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Junior LiDAR Data Processing Specialist to support our growing team in Austin, TX.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Junior LiDAR Data Processing Specialist with remote sensing data processing experience, and preferably has data acquisition and remote sensing system calibration experience.
This person must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and be resourceful, instinctive, and proactive in building relationships with a diverse group of professionals in a dynamic, collaborative work environment. The Junior LiDAR Data Processing Specialist will work closely with our Processing and Production Teams.
Job Summary
Apply remote sensing technologies to assist scientists in areas such as natural resources, urban planning, or homeland security. May also prepare flight plans or sensor configurations for flight trips.
Responsibilities
- Process remotely sensed geospatial data from a variety of active and passive sensors
- Calibrate integrated lidar systems
- Generate multi-sensor data-fusion derived products.
- Perform GNSS/INS coupled trajectory processing.
- Analyze and investigate data and produce detailed reports.
- Provide technical support for data, software, and hardware inquiries
- Conduct technical trainings, presentations, and webinars
- Work closely with field operations, production, and technical support teams
- Participate in the planning or development of mapping projects.
- Consult with remote sensing scientists, surveyors, cartographers, or engineers to determine project needs.
- Contribute to the development of, and adhere to strict data quality standards
- Operate remote sensing equipment, such as survey cameras, sensors, or scanners.
- Monitor raw data quality during collection and make equipment corrections as necessary.

Requirements
- 1 year of relevant experience: remotely sensed data processing, GIS, geodetics or similar
- Bachelor's Degree (preferable) or higher in geoscience, geography, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or a relevant field
