Do you have GIS field experience? Enjoy compiling GPS data? Parsons is seeking GIS Technicians to assist in coordinating and executing the GIS Component of multiple projects / programs.
Responsibilities: The GIS Technicians will create and update GIS data layers, create and manage databases, collect field data (GPS), digitize and rectify aerial photography, perform remote sensing analyses, create maps and conduct database analyses in support of projects, provide GIS products and information for reports and presentations, develop and produce maps, and other related duties.
This role performs various Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technical support tasks which include performing field work.
If selected, you will translate and input existing data into a common format, including hardcopy maps, topographical maps, site plans, electronic maps, and GPS data.
You will search for, and compile, field data based on project needs and specifications. You will digitize point, linear, and polygonal features from paper maps into specified data formats.
This role includes the capture of attributes as well as feature topology. You will enter attribute data from tabular sources to populate project database and import digital data from various sources to a project database.
Additionally, you will produce mapping output from digital data to meet project specifications as well as report output from database utilizing an automated process, when feasible, to ensure reproducibility.
You will document work on assigned tasks, report progress to immediate supervisor, and update metadata per project requirements using predetermined schema.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Geography, Planning, GIS or related curriculum (or equivalent) Some related GIS experience preferred A working knowledge of GIS software applications and programming Ready for action?
