GIS Manager with City of San Marcos

The City of San Marcos and seeking candidates for a GIS Manager. The GIS Manager provides leadership, direction, and support to the GIS Division of the Department of Information Technology.  This position is responsible for the coordination and management of GIS workflow and projects, design and implementation of GIS applications and programs and databases, preparation and monitoring of the GIS budget, and the supervision and development of GIS team members.  Advises and consults with City departments on the use of GIS programs and applications. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science or related field required.  Additional work experience may be substituted for a degree on year for year basis.
  • Five (5) years progressive professional-level experience in the design, development, implementation and administration of geographic information systems, including project management and oversight; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Must be able to pass FBI criminal background fingerprint check and can comply with state and federal requirements for criminal justice information security standards. 


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in managing a distributed GIS team
  • Experience in managing enterprise solutions
  • GISP (GIS Professional) certification
  • ESRI Certification (Developer, Enterprise)
