Seeking Student Submissions

Interested in sharing your GIS work with the world?
Every year ESRI hosts an international user conference, where over 15,000 GIS users gather to:

  • Learn the latest innovations in GIS technology
  • Get hands-on training from Esri subject matter experts.
  • Take advantage of hundreds of unique learning experiences.
  • Discover how GIS is transforming our world.
  • Connect and collaborate with thought leaders from the education community.

Now is your chance to showcase your work to this audience.

About the ESRI User Conference Map Gallery
The Map Gallery is a popular feature of every Esri User Conference and allows you to showcase your work to over 15,000 GIS professionals from across the globe.  If you would like your map to be considered for a Map Gallery award, the categories and judging criteria document can help you determine which category is right for your map, and how entries are evaluated. The top three entries in each category will be recognized during the UC Closing Session.  Check out award-winners from last year’s UC Map Gallery.

Student maps will be considered for inclusion in the 34th volume of the Esri Map Book!!

Submission Guidelines
Every student wishing to submit a map must fill out the required information in the 2018 GIS@ACC Map Gallery Submission form.  Submissions can be printed or digital maps as described below, and are submitted in the form.  All submissions must be provided before noon on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 to undergo review.  Final submissions are due before noon on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 to be accepted.

Printed Maps
Deliverable: Provide a PDF map
Medium: Printed.  Your PDF map will be printed large on the plotter for you and taken to the map gallery by an ACC Professor.  Each display panel at the map gallery is 4 feet wide by 7 feet tall, so keep that in mind when designing your map.
Audience: Your audience will be GIS users walking around and near the panel where your paper map will be mounted.

Digital Maps
Deliverable: Provide a digital map image and a valid URL (if applicable).
Medium:  Displayed.  There are (2) kinds of digital maps: static maps and interactive maps. Static maps require only a file upload to the submission. Interactive maps (Story Maps, interactive web maps, web scenes, etc.) require a file upload and a live URL.
Audience: Your audience will be GIS users interacting with the map directly on a digital device (smartphone, tablet, computer monitor).
