Online ACC GIS Student Ross Eide will present his Capstone project: Permian Basin Oil and Gas Production Analysis.

Project Description:
The Permian Basin in west Texas has produced enough oil in the past few decades to push the United States to the forefront of global oil exports. In order to streamline the process of extracting oil and gas from the ground, scientists need to know where to look.  Understanding the geographic location of possible reserves on the earth’s surface, as well as associated rock layers beneath the surface, allow scientists to locate the most productive regions. The goal of this project is to determine the level of production within specific rock formations within the Permian basin based on available data.
