ACC GIS Student Showcase @ ATX GIS Day @ Austin Geo Bash this Tuesday December 12th beginning at Noon at the new Austin Central Library. Three special GIS events, one special GIS day!
You are invited to kick-off this special day at the ACC GIS Student Showcase at the ATX GIS Day Map Gallery on Tuesday, Dec 12, 2017, from 12 - 1:30 PM., at the Austin Central Library, 710 West Cesar Chavez St. Students have teamed up with Austin B-cycle this semester to do site suitability analyses for expansion of the bike share system. Topics include:
- Equity of Access to Bicycle Infrastructure
- Bike Share with Public Transit Connectivity Analysis
- Improving Access to Parks and Public Lands With Bike Share
- Citizen Science: Tour an Austin Watershed by Bike
- and more!
In addition to showing their service-learning B-cycle project outcomes, students from ACC GIS classes will also be displaying their portfolios. Attendees are invited to learn about the student projects, visit the ATX GIS Day Map Gallery, visit with each other, and enjoy some local snacks. Attached are pictures from a previous Poster Session at Meadows Center with San Antonio River Authority and National Weather Service last year.

After the lunch-time ATX GIS Day Map Gallery, join your fellow GIS professionals and public for an afternoon of GIS fun. This year’s ATX GIS DAY features free professional development opportunities including:
- Presentations by geospatial leaders in our community
- Flood Mapping Panel, including experts from the City of Austin, State of Texas and Williamson County
- Display area for attendees to test and provide feedback on geo-related prototypes
- Hands-on Collector App training

Cap off your GIS Day at the Austin Geo Bash 2017 - just down the street from the Austin Central Library at BD Riley's on 6th (private room).
This year our holiday party will take place immediately following (and within walking distance of) the GIS Day fun. Family, friends, coworkers and other guests are all welcome. As is tradition, attendees are encouraged to bring donations for one or both of our favorite local charities: SafePlace & the Central Texas Food Bank.
